Former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton joined Gen. Colin Powell and his wife Alma Powell at the 10th anniversary event for the America’s Promise Alliance in New York June 27, to renew their commitment to America’s youth and help announce the Alliance’s new 15 in 5 Campaign. Through the 15 in 5 Campaign the Alliance aims to improve the lives of 15 million at-risk youth over the next five years by providing them with more of the essential resources they need to succeed -  the Five Promises - caring adults; safe place; a healthy start; an effective education; and opportunities to help others.

Former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton renewed their commitment to delivering the Five Promises to America’s youth at a 10th anniversary celebration event for the America’s Promise Alliance in New York today. At the event, hosted by the America's Promise Alliance Founding Chair General Powell and current Chair Mrs. Alma Powell, the Alliance announced their new 15 in 5 Campaign aimed at improving the lives of 15 million disadvantaged children over the next five years by providing them with more of the Five Promises they need to succeed.

Principal Rebekah Marler-Mitchell, accepted the first annual Colin and Alma Powell Legacy Award on behalf of The Vito Marcantonio School (PS/IS 50) at the America’s Promise Alliance’s 10th anniversary celebration tonight in New York City from the Alliance’s Founding Chair General Colin Powell and current Chair Alma Powell. PS/IS 50, in East Harlem, NY, was given the award, along with a grant of $100,000, in recognition of the school’s commitment to and practice of its “whole student” philosophy of learning and living.
