Just as sparks jumping from flint demonstrate their collective power to ignite a blaze, the newly-launched SparkAction.org distributes the tools and resources on a range of issues to help its online network take action and become a powerful voice for children, youth and their communities.
SparkAction is managed by the Forum for Youth Investment, an America’s Promise Alliance partner and founder of the Ready by 21 initiative. The site is a merger of Connectforkids.org, the YouthPolicyActionCenter and the National Youth Development Information Center. SparkAction's team worked with a steering committee of more than 100 organizations across the country to develop the mission and brand and to design this site.
SparkAction is a compilation of the latest news, research, trends and stories from across the child and youth field. The information presented allows web site visitors to become informed and take action on the issues that matter most to them. They can also access the entire collection of SparkAction’s content on all topics including feature articles, videos, opinions and editorials, and the voices of young people themselves. Listen, watch, read and connect!
Another unique aspect of the website is the Action Center. Through this interactive tool, viewers can become participants and learn how to advocate change in policies for children and youth. Visitors will have tools and resources at their finger tips necessary to help get informed, get involved, and make a difference for families and communities.
By inviting open participation and direct interaction among individuals, SparkAction has developed an online forum dedicated to sharing ideas, information, and stories intended to facilitate a dialogue and awareness about a range of child and youth issues across the development spectrum. It only takes one spark to start a fire.
