Arizona Dropout Prevention Summit

Summit Location: Desert Willow Conference Center, 4340 East Cotton Center Blvd. Phoenix, AZ

Highlights:

  • The purpose of the summit is to develop strategies that can be implemented to increase the number of high school graduates in Arizona.
  • Following the event, the Council’s Data and Graduation Committee will work with the Governor’s Youth Commission (GYC) leadership to create and implement an action plan. The Governor will provide leadership in coordinating formal presentations to each of the policy-making boards, in response to the Governor’s charge.
  • The Council is also working to develop multiple pathways for all students to meet graduation requirements and complete high school and the Council is working to support the implementation of personalized graduation plans for AZ students, raise the graduation rate by 12% by 2012 and increase the state’s compulsory attendance age from 16 to 18.
