About the Conference
The 2011 Building a Grad Nation Summit convened more than 900 education, political, nonprofit and corporate thought leaders to explore the issues surrounding improving the national high school graduation rate. Commemorating the launch of America's Promise Alliance's 10-year Grad Nation campaign, the Building a Grad Nation Summit took place March 21-23 in Washington, D.C. The three-day event was co-hosted by America's Promise Alliance, the Alliance for Excellent Education, Civic Enterprises, and the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University to inspire a national movement to reach our goal of a 90 percent national graduation rate by 2020.
The Grad Nation campaign, formally launched in 2010, calls on all Americans to get involved in the effort to improve high school graduation rates and ensure our young people are graduating ready for college and the 21st century workforce.
